Liverpool Fly Fishers is open to anyone in the Liverpool business community who shares the love of fly fishing. The objective of Liverpool Fly Fishers is to bring good people to the river bank to build business networks whilst enjoying great fishing, food and craic. Fly Fishing has been referred to as the new golf in terms of its ability to bring businesses together for enjoyable networking and a great days sport.At Liverpool Fly Fishers guests are positively encouraged on all trips and members’ club waters are listed with ‘swaps’ and day trips a regular feature of our club.

As summer approaches and the days become longer I find myself staring out of the office window wondering what it would be like to be a fishery owner at this time of year. Many people associate a lottery win with a fancy car, a big house or private jet, but all I long for is a fishery for sale. Locating a fishery for sale, particularly one that offers fly fishing, is not an easy task.

This is a good website that lacks listings and is updated infrequently, however this could my well be due to the state of the market itself.

This is good for the angling enthusiast as the lack of imagery, descriptions and fishing related information means you are more likely to make a business decision rather than a major investment based on emotion. Cound Trout Fishery in Shropshire is open all year round. The 26 acre clear water is spring fed and offers almost a mile of bank fishing. The depth of approaching 65 feet means that boat angling is always popular.

Rutland Water

Rutland Water is arguably the premier trout fishing venue in the United Kingdom. The massive 3100 acre fishery has been a mecca amongst exponents of fly fishing for generations and regularly plays host to competitions and other events.

The fishery records at Rutland Water are unique with a modest 14lb 4oz for Rainbow Trout and surpassed by a massive 14lb 12 oz for the biggest Brown Trout ever caught at Rutland Water. This venue is often busy during the open season from April to December. Despite the vast size insect life is plentiful and popular flies include Buzzer, Sedge, Daddies, Hawthorn and other imitative patterns. The depth of this fishery means that Boobies, Orange Blobs and Dabblers are also very effective.

Barnes Lake Fishery in Oxfordshire has three day ticket waters for trout anglers. The venue is open all year and is regularly stocked with both Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout.

Pitsford Reservoir fishery in Northamptonshire is a giant 750 acre reservoir dissected by a causeway. This offers a unique experience for fly fishermen eager to beat the record of 15lb 11oz for a Rainbow Trout.
