Danebridge Fishery

Danebridge Fisheries, near the village of Wincle, close to Macclesfield is a popular fly fishery in Cheshire. Danebridge Fishery boasts a spring fed single 2.25 acre lake with a fisherman’s hut to provide shelter on rainy days that has good facilities. At weekends, even in the winter months, the fishery can get busy so call (01260) 227293 to reserve your place on the bank in advance.

  3. an extremly well run , and friendly fishery , great fishing with good quality fish , hard fighting clean rainbows , and browns!!! nice helpfull staff , i cant recommend this place enough , i would rate this as the best fishery in cheshire!!

  4. Excellent small lake. Although living nearby (only about 4 miles away), only visited this year for the first time. Have been 6-8 times this year for 2-4 h each time, always landing 3-6 fish (and missing at least as many). Owner really friendly and helpful. I mainly get smaller rainbows (1-2 lb), and they really fight well and are in great condition; there are bigger fish – I landed a rainbow of 4.5 lb and a gorgeous brownie of about 3 lb, and log book shows that 6 lb-ers are regularly landed. Other highlight was seeing a kingfisher fly over the lake and land on the far bank reed-bed; herons and other water birds are regular visitors. You do need to switch flies, depth and retrieve, but I’ve now caught on pretty well all fly types – buzzers, nymphs, bloodworm, cat’s whisker and dry flies.
