Blakewell Fishery

Blakewell Fishery in Devon is renowned for the regular catches of Rainbow Trout in excess of ten pounds. Hawthorn and Alder fly are abundant and rarely leave anglers waiting too long for a hatch, especially on summer evenings.

Fly fishing in Devon at Blakewell Fishery is a must if you want to land a specimen catch. This is just one of the reasons why this water is so popular.

  1. High prices, poor quality kept lake and margins. Lake seems to suffer with a lot of surface weed which makes fishing practically impossible, especially during busier periods. Manager seems to be too focused on the ‘water garden’ side of the business rather than ensuring their lake is at the required standard. My advice: try Exe Valley or Bellbrook instead – affordable prices and high quality fishing!!!!

  2. In 32 years have never blanked at Blakewell with several rainbows and browns uo 17lbs pounds although average is around 3 to 4lb lbs. Superb fishing that also attracts many summer holiday visitors who return year after year. Devon has some superb lake fishing but I rank Blakewell one of the best. If you blank at Blakewell you are doing something wrong.
