Hury Reservoir

Hury Reservoir in Durham is stocked with both rainbow trout and brown trout. The 50 hectare water  operated by Northumbrian Water and is open from March to November.

Hury Reservoir is large enough to provide a challenge for most anglers looking for the famed wild brown trout. Rainbows are plentiful and like most fly fishing venues in the north east they find it hard to resist the temptation offered by a Dawsons Olive or Cats Whisker on any day. Natural patterns popular with imitative anglers include Daddies and GRHE.

Hury Reservoir is a popular fishery in Durham, partly due to the surrounding scenery of Baldersdale. If you are planning to go Fly fishing in Durham this is a recommended option due to the fact that it is never overcrowded and unlike all other Northumbrian Water fisheries it is fly only so you won’t have to dodge the bubble floats!
